March is over. Where did it go? This was a decent month but did hold a couple of set backs for me personally. I’m taking everything one day at a time and continue to move forward at the pace which is right for me. That’s really all I can do right now, right?
~>This month started with a lovely pricey vet trip for my cat Simon who had a double ear infection and cystitis of the bladder. Thankfully he’s easy to get medications into and he’s doing much better now but, it was not a fun way to start out the month. Unfortunately, he’s prone to the cystitis of the bladder so more than likely I’ll have to make a return trip for him before too long.
~>I completed physical therapy. Or at least I had as many sessions as would be approved by my insurance. I am trying to continue with the exercises at home to the best of my ability. I’ve also started taking 2-3 mile walks outside when the weather is nice. With the warmer weather, it also means it’s the start of golf season which means I’ll be joining my boyfriend Shane out on the course to provide some hilarious and insightful commentary. For example, “I think your ball was a little dirty and wanted a free bath – that is why it went into the water.” Trust me, I’m hilarious and we have fun just spending time laughing together in the fresh air.
~>I have continued to take steps to address my mental health which has notably been changed over the past several months. I can’t get into everything but I feel like I can safely say that I was put through an emotional roller-coaster at my previous employment and I did not always handle it using the best outlets. I didn’t even realize how bad it was until way after the fact as I have been reflecting on it. I’m also the kind of person that has always put others before myself and I’m starting to realize that is not something that I can do. It’s not beneficial for me or the people that I think that I’m helping. I need to listen to my body and the signs that it has been trying to give me about my mental health. I’m grateful for the people in my life that have helped me realize this and have continued to support me as I figure out how to move forward with things.
I read 28 books this month – 14 of which were on my March TBR of 15 books. (I have started The Four Winds and will continue this one into April). I honestly cannot believe that I read that many books! Many of them came from using the Libby app on my phone. The Two Lives Of Lydia Bird I’ll Give You The Sun Loathe At First Sight The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett Fear of Missing Out Siri, Who Am I? Gold Dust Woman It’s Kind Of A Cheesy Love Story Titanic: Iceberg Ahead Love Lettering Furia Love in Lockdown Every Body Looking Clap When You Land Lifting As We Climb: Black Women’s Battle For The Ballot Box Daisy Jones and The Six The Lost Apothecary The Poet X Knit, Purl, A Baby, and A Girl My Own Words Gods of Jade and Shadow Parachutes This Is My Brain In Love Girls Don’t Fly The Romanov Sisters What Unites Us Everybody Fights
I’ve honestly been doing more reading than watching television this month. I’m still working through my re-watch of Will & Grace – currently in the middle of season 8. I also watched all of Man With A Plan and have watched 5 episodes of the new Netflix show Country Comfort. The Masked Singer is also back on which is exciting. Do you watch that show? If so, what are some of your guesses?
April TBR: Heart Like Mine The Legendary Lord One Wild Night The Walls Around Us Nest The Lost Love Song Teddy Spenser Isn’t Looking For Love Take Me Home Tonight Hang The Moon The Black Friend: On Being A Better White Person Lilac Girls Maiden Voyages: Magnificent Ocean Liners and the Women Who Traveled and Worked Aboard Them
I plan on reading more than what is listed on my TBR but these are the books that are currently on my possession. For this month I will be working on my Netgalley backlist and trying to read and review books that I asked for before. There are a few of these that I have read before but never reviewed so it’ll be fun to re-read them again. I also have a couple of ARCs to read this month as well which I’m excited about. I look forward to seeing what April brings for all of us. Hopefully, it’s less showers and tons of sunshine and flowers!
